New Project

Well after almost a year of waiting we (bro and I) finally got ahold of an 89 W350 LE SRW. It's bone stock, Getrag, 3.55, reg cab. Got it from the original owner. 255,xxx miles.
It took way longer than expected to get it home. Try and get pics tomorow.
Will be transforming it into a sled puller as funds allow.

Is $700 a good deal?
Keep in mind it is no cream puff. Needs trans work, Matt told me today that it got stuck in fifth last night when he was test driving it. Pretty sure turbo needs a rebuild. Probably won't mess with it (babby H1C), PM me if you have something to get rid of.

It is an Iowa farm truck, mechanically neglacted and slightly beat up.

Had been sitting for years. Bled the fuel filter and it snapped to life with 65 psi of oil pressure(custom aftermarket oil pressure gauge install).

Will be tearing into the IP soon. Plan to do a Re-Seal, 366 spring and probably remove AFC foot. This will be strictly a play rig. Maybe save some wear and tear on our DD's(With much persuasion from the ol' man) So my question is...With the AFC foot gone, does the fuel pin do anything?

What about this talk of grinding the shut down lever? What exactly does this do?

Will get the pics tonight after work.

FYI: if it gets stuck in 5th when driving do a '?' like movement with your hand when downshifting and 95% of the time it will keep it from geting stuck in 5th.

Here it is:

OUCH!

Got It out of fifth. No 3rd or 4th gear. The shifter goes in, but nothing, not even a noise. Got the gutbag out, the syncros looked pretty bad. The gears looked ok, but I didn't mess with it too much. Maybe tomorow....

Well, it is back together and running good. The tranny actually works better than my '93 does. Might inspire me to fix it, too.

Also got some 5" stacks on. Will actually be hooked tomorrow, hopefully.

Then its time to play with the pump!

Pics to come.

Built a 4" DP and ran 5" from there to the stacks.

Pulled out the fuel pin so we could blow some black smoke. Got to break them stacks in right!

There's no turning back.

More like a steal.

I would like to have a few like that fall into my lap; a man can never have too many spare trucks.

Bear Killer, I'm with ya on the parts rigs. It's extremely handy to have a twin to your daily driver for the pilfering. It's like having an entire parts store right there, well almost.

We had agreed on $500 last year, then he backed out, I offered more, still no.

Then out of the blue he was ready to sell it for 700.

Here are pics of the stacks in thier previous life:

I bet the most expensive part of the project will be your pullin clutch.

I know, it will cost over twice as much as the truck did. Next in line will be a good turbo, then injectors.

For right now I have a custom 6 button ceramic on the way, should be here today.

Got some more stuff done last night:
Set valves, put on poly v/c gaskets It has 255k,I don't think it had ever been done, some were really loose. Sounds much better now.
Got a solid 3 turns on the power screw
New fuel filter, went from 10 psi to 12
Put on my old homebrew BHAF from the '93
Rigged a temporary boost guage, I think there's a boost leak. Only had 12 psi stock, and maybe 20 with 3 turns on the power screw. I can see the gasket hanging out of the plenum cover.
