New owner - '91 4x4 250. Whew hoo!
Hello all,
I just bought a 250 4x4 regular cab built in July 1991. It's a one owner truck with 201,444 miles and lots of good stuff, skidplate, power everything, AT, etc. He said it regularly gets 19mpg.
I drove from Durham, NC to just over the Chesapeake Bay Tunnel Bridge to look at it, bought it on the spot and will pick it this coming week.
Before I went looking the diesel mechanic at the Dodge dealer told me to check out the fluids, all of which were fine, and see how the transmission shifted. Everything was great and I got no evil feelings from the truck.
I liked it immediately, but it will take some getting used to, having a '89 Dakota 4x4 that I put over 240,000 miles on. Boy does that diesel ride differently.
Anyhow, I think I will like it. Incedentally, I see Furious70 is on here. Hi Furious, I sold the Polara a few months ago.

Welcome and congrats on your purchase. The leaf spring solid axle 4x4's are a little choppy, think of it as a real man's truck. With good maintenance you should be able to put 240k more on this truck.

I test drove the truck in Virginia and many of that states back roads are crowned macadam. Not a very friendly surface! Once I got the truck out on the highway, it was a lot better.
No doubt about it, wannadiesel, it is a real man's truck!
Sooner or later, it will get a camper shell. It looks like it needs new shocks - that might help.
I can't wait to bring it home!

Thanks for the welcome!
It's a brute and I can't wait to get it down here! I'll post a pic when I can.
Hi Furious! Yeah, I had to sell the Polara. I had too many things that needed too many things, so something had to go. Besides, the trusty Dakota was showing it's age, and as everyone knows, you can't be without a truck!
How's your '70?
That kpd subject is killing me. Lots of info to sort through. If my truck has 200,000 is possibly safe to assume this truck is not affect or could it mean this has already been fixed?

I wouldn't assume anything about the KDP. I've done 8 trucks of varying years and mileages, 5 of 8 have had movement of the KDP to one degree or another. Not favorable odds IMO. How lucky do you feel?
