Keep in mind that the VE pump is lubricated by fuel and the lower the sulfer the drier the fuel. I have used an additive for lubricity since the first reduction in the early '90s ('94) I think and plan on continuing it's use.

ULSD will have very poor lubricity. Any pre 2007 EPA Tier III engine should be using some type of a lubricity additive to help with fuel system longevity. I have been using a lube additive for a number of years and will continue to do so unless I am running biodiesel. The sulfur is not a lubricity agent in the fuel, however the process that removes the sulfur also removes the lube. The fuel will burn cleaner having less PM and NOx. This reduction in emissions is really only important for post Tier III engines to prevent emissions system after treatments from fouling.

I have had great luck running both biodiesel and when running dino diesel I've used Stanadyne quite a bit. The lubricity formula is basically just a lube additive. The Performance Formula has the lube additive along with a PPD and some other stuff. Power Service is another good additive.

The artical was for for all 93 and older diesels. I believe that i will start running a fuel additive as well
