New Flooring ????
Does any body know where to get a vinyl/rubber floor kit for the 1st gen? I am looking for something waterproof, I know they exist because I have seen them in USFS and BLM 1st gen rigs. Anybody make them anymore or am I in the "make-your-own" department?

I havent looked but you might want to check ACC (auto carpet co. I think thats the name) there in almost every car magazine. They might carry a mat style floor or you could also check JC Whitney.

A vinyl/rubber water-proof mat will rot out a cab floor years quicker than a carpet floor.
Water doesn't penetrate the mat; BUT, gallons of it can get UNDER the mat, soaking the padding, staying damp and soggy-wet under there all the time.
Worse yet, some will hose them out with a water-hose, really ponding it up underneath.
Think of a mat like a bed-protector, a rot/rust causer.

Just a brainstorm, but we could get soundproofing and rust prevention by first applying a bedliner product like mentioned previously then insulation and applying carpet or a vinyl/rubber mat. Seems kinda redundant, but it would prevent rust and solve the noise problem.

I like that idea, sounds like doing it right as opposed to redundant if you ask me. May be pricey but it would last forever, about the same idea as putting Tyvek house wrap under Poly-styrene foam under Stucco on a house.

Here's what a local bud of Bruiser's & I did just that on his 2nd Gen...
While he had the carpet out to steam clean it... he layed down a layer of butyl window flashing (self-adhesive) over his entire floor & rear cab... $40 worth! IMHO, it came out pretty dang clean and he says it made a noticable difference
Others suggested butyl garden pond mat if you needed something thicker...
