On a side note

How has your experiance been with the non greasable joints?

I put the greasable joints in mine so I'd have a breaking point but it hasn't been the joints i've been breaking, I broke a d70 and a d80 yoke

to tell you the truth I have yet to bust a joint

Looks good. You have a well equipped shop looks like too. Driveshaft repair/replacement cost alot of money.

I guess I didn't ask the question correctly. Before you built the new shaft did you try balancing it . I've had mine balanced twice and the vibration is still there. Can they tell if the shaft is bent when they balance it. My guy said it's an optical illusion that the shaft is bent when looking underneath with it jacked up and running. Like you; it's getting to me.

Well, the old shaft was kinked pretty good at the pinion end about 3" up the tube... So, balancing wasn't a option... They would have had to retube it which was 250 bucks... I opted to spend a little more and get all new.. This is a somewhat high end driveshaft shop... It is all they do, they have a high dollar high speed balancing machine... I will report in a short while if my vibration is gone... I sure hope so!! Just have to replace the trans temp thermal switch on my B&M cooler...

You broke a 1410 D80 yoke?

I am putting a full 1350 front d-shaft in the '89 right now.

As far as getting and old shaft rebalanced, it works. If the slip yoke is all wallered out you will still get bad vibes, though. Most of the ones I have seen are slopped out. FWIW

Ok.. The vibration seems to be gone, Which is good... But if I can't figure a way to get this baby to ride better, I may sell it... It is me off... Our roads are so bad around here, not even fun to go drive around...

Them there cuss words. You have a few options as far as making it ride better, im sure you know them.

If not, air bags would work.
Also, maybe a 52" or longer spring in the front. A lot of the chevy guys do that swap. What shocks are you running?

Thats what I am thinking, longer springs or air bags... But I may want to start pulling it this fall, then air bags are a no go... My shocks are pretty old, they are black diamond... old school!! They don't leak, I had them laying around and just cleaned them up and painted them... I've spent big money on the Bilisteins for my new truck and they didn't help one bit... So.. today was a bad day.... I may start another what's she worth thread... I hate to sell it, but I need something I can drive around and not get beat to death, not another toy to take out on weekends!!

I found the rancho adjustables gave my k5 a real nice ride with stock length springs. I used softride 6" and those rs9000s set at the lower settings. It was night and day. They a little pricey, but at least you can dial in how you want it to ride. Maybe pull the shocks first and see if its cushy enough, forget about the bounce while your doing it. That will give you an idea whether its the shocks being too stiff, or the springs.

Maybe I'll take the back's off tomorrow and go for a ride... It's been a real hard winter here.. Lots of frost, the roads are heaving pretty bad, which isn't helping my situation!
