DANG! Day late and a $ short. What a strange looking beast. I live about 45 min. from that base, but didn't see your post until tooooooooooo late. 12,000 miles on a complete CTD. I'm dying to squeeze one of these in my 90 Chevy 1 ton van.
I haven't measured it out, but the turbo might location be the only problem.
As far as the toter, I am sure it was to drag planes around. Leave it to the Gov. to spec out something that needed enough alterations to cost more than a top of the line truck from the dealer. Imagine the rough ride with that wheelbase?
I bet that thing rarely came out of 2nd gear. Still would loved to drag it home.

Somebody's got to be the innovator. It'd make more torque than the 451 I've got in there now. Not as much hp though.

Only 12,00 miles, but with that kinda vehicle I bet it has running hours up there in the 10s of thousands.

And mostly in 1st and 2nd gear. But who knows, it still might make a fun swap.

That's cool... always liked those old landcruisers, almost bought one with a SB Chevy years ago. Bet the 4 banger would have gotten better fuel mileage.

With that bob-tail on it it would be perfect for parking on campus, etc. At 15' its a good 3-4 feet shorter then my 97, and those running boards would discourage door dings.

Of course, its probably geared pretty low so it would take a lot longer to get to work....
