Need some help w/ Speedo Sensor

Hey guys, I have a crazy speedo, I think it may have demons in it just kidding. But it is acting strange and I need some help please.

The speedo will twitch when I step on the go pedal, but goes back steady when I let off. When cold it moves 10 to 30 mph above actual, when up to operating temp. maybe 5 to 10 mph above actual.

OD works but shifts to early, at around 25 to 30 mph actual, speedo will show around 50 to 55.
I replaced to VSS about 2 months ago and it has been working fine since.

If anyone has any idea or if you need more info please let me know. BTW this is on the '91 in the sig.

Thanks
AndyT

Just to clarify, you replaced the VSS, and you had a good speedo for a while, but now it is acting up again? Same symptoms?

Try checking your grounds, and the wiring along the route from the tranny to the firewall. also check your connections behind the instrument cluster. You could have gotten a defective VSS. If it is reading higher than actual, I'd say it's electrical/ electronic.

Correct, I replaced VSS about 2 months ago, and everything has been working fine. Sunday, is when I noticed the speedo acting up again. Before it would go both ways about 20 to 30 mph and cause the trans to down shift and upshift repeatedly. It is not doing that now, only shifting into OD too early. Thanks for the help so far. I will check out the wiring.
Thanks

Hey guys thanks for all the help. I finally got it fixed. Turns out I should have replaced the connector that came with the new VSS. After comparing the connectors, the old VSS pins are slightly larger than the new one. So that made the old connector alittle lose on the pins. This might be something to check for the other guys still having problems.
Thanks

You only use the harness on years that have the jumper harness up by the frame. If the vehicle's harness goes all the way to the sensor then you just replace the sensor. Can't remember what year they changed over.
