Give it a snort of ether. If it won't stay running then you have gotten the key out of the keyway and the pump is now out of time.

I think you mashed the key and the gear has slipped on the shaft.

That is also my guess.

It is a very easy mistake to make.

The engine stops with the pump-cam under spring-tension on a lobe, wanting to roll on down into the valley.

What happens is the lock-screw is not snugged enough to resist this tendency and the pump-shaft thus moves out coordination to the gear key-way.

Am I making sense ??

Ok just got around to looking @ truck again after long weekend, and wanna, I looked in there using a mirror and a bright lite, the key still in slot on the timing gear, also tired with starting fuild she sounded like it wanted to go but sounded like lack of fuel/low idle, but I was holding the foot pedalall the way to the floor!

And bear I under stand wat ur saying checked that lock screw and its pretty snug

Any other suggestion? The pump ran fine bfor taking out to replace the fulcrum!

Forgot to mention that bfor fuel screw pretty much bottomed out cuz it felt like a fuel issue so I screwed it all the way in
