Need a power window motor
I made the mistake of tossing the OEM window motor years ago when it went out so it's too late to rebuild. And I'm tired of swapping out NAPA motors every couple years. Can anyone recommend a quality replacement motor that will last?
Thanks,

too bad your on the opposite side of the country, id give you 2 complete doors, from a salvage truck I parted out. are you sure your guides and tracking are adjusted correctly, any bind will overload the whole circuit. the reman replacements are dependable, you might research where your napa is sourcing rebuilds, napas are franchised, and independently will not replace parts between the different dealers, for that reason, I wont give them my money, when im on the road, and a replacement part fails, I want support from a place like oreillys that's national, and will honor the replacement from any location.

I looked up dorman, offering new power window lift motors, thru oreillys, #742-307/742-308 rt and lt, ive had great results with everything ive used from dorman, but never used theirs on first gens, mine are manual.

x2. Never used Dorman stuff on a first gen specifically, but they have a good product and I use it when I can.

I have the rockauto ones in both doors, no problems. At least 7 or 8 years on 1 of them...Mark

If you have a u pull yard nearby, the Same Era Dakotas have the same motors as our trucks, they are just opposite sides, the driver side Dakota motor fits the passenger side of the D and W trucks.

I sprayed the tracks and mechanism with graphite this summer while I had the panel off to replace the weather belts. Should be adjusted OK as nothing has been changed?
I'll check and see what our NAPA carries. Could be a wire too, haven't had a chance to check yet.
Are the Dakota motors easier to get to than our trucks? Like, can they be got in the scrap yard with just hand tools?

theres a lot more fullsize trucks here in socal, but regionally, cant answer for the east coast. youll want to grease the spring hinge, and roller track too

I maybe in trouble too.
I got a new instead of a remain thinking it would be MORE reliable.
I'm sure mine is in need of brushes and bushings. But the new one was fairly cheap and time/effort I thought it would be good investment.
Besides the volume of low mileage cores is gets depleted as cars age. So, there is no more clean , test and paint ... "rebuilt".

It's been 3 or 4 yrs since I dug one out but if my memory serves, the daKota motors are between the interior panel and the inner door skin. In other words it right behind the interior panel, easily accessible.

So I went to NAPA to get another motor, the one I had was a reman. The manager waited on me and I asked what was the best motor he carried since the last three had crapped out on me and if they had any warranty but I didn't have a receipt. He looked it up and GAVE me a new one, not a remanufactured one. Yes, he GAVE it to me, free. Can't complain about that.
