alright thanks for all the help guys!!!
Another one of my buddys thats a chevy guy told me a little more about what the guy that i raced had done to his truck. I'm not totally sure if it was a bored 350 or not, but he said that the motor has been to Horsepower Farms a few times and that it has a radical cam (if i remember right) and aluminum heads, a different compression ratio, headers, and a lot of carb work, and I'm sure a lot of other things that i don't know about, I just know that he has over 6 grand into just the motor alone and it was built from the ground up. I know it doesn't have a blower on it, i meant that it was like a full blown screamin 350. My buddy was sayin that he is sure that this guy is pushin over 500hp.
I have 3.54s and i am happy with them. I don't really wanna gear it down, unless i start doin pulls.
I think I will shift it into overdrive next time and see if it will keep pullin a little more, I don't have a tach yet, so I'm just goin by ear and i know my rpms are definately gettin up there! I'll see if i can get a little more timing, or i might just jump it a tooth... i need to tab my kdp anyways!
I know that my converter is holdin me back, I can't really feel it slipping, but I'm sure its slippin a little and stallin not where i want it to. I need to get an aftermarket one along with a shift kit in soon, just waitin for the money!
I can't powerbrake and rev my motor too high cuz as soon as i let off the brake, I will be roastin the tires for 60 ft, I learned that last time when i raced a 3rd gen, but i may try 4 wheel next time, so that I will get better traction. I think I'm gonna try and put the J-hook off my hy35 and hook it onto my bracket where my wastegate is turnbuckled shut on my he351 right now so that maybe the wastegate will open a little bit from the dirve pressure with the spring so i can get it down to 35 lbs. That would make me feel much better and i would feel a lot safer holdin it open longer, I don't wanna go through a gasket right now anyways, so I think I will try that and see if it works out to get me down to around 35 lbs. Thanks for all the help guys, I will do a couple of these things and then see if i can get a rematch with this guy. I know i could beat him. I'm still surprised how bad i was beatin him off the line though, I thought he was gonna be ahead of me the whole time, but i killed him at the start. I love how quick this turbo spools!!!
He has 6 grand into his motor, and i don't even have $800 into my motor, so I was pretty impressed for the 1st run, hopefully i get him next time, thanks for the help guys.

I'm going to call bs on this story. Someone is lying. You wouldn't be anywhere close to a 500rwhp truck, let alone beat him off the line. If he truly does have 6K in the motor, then he should sell the truck and move on, because there is no way he should be that slow.
Give me 6K and just about any car you could imagine, and I could make it blow the doors off a 1st Gen. Maybe he is just an awful driver...

Maybe it has a stock 1600 stall converter with 2.73 gears and thats why its slow outta the hole?
6k you can go crazy but you can also get stupid, depending on how much chrome accessories you buy

I know he's had problems with his tranny, I know that he couldn't really powerbrake it cuz it will lug down the motor and he wouldn't have gotten a good start. He said the tranny was stock, but my other buddy said that it definately wasn't stock, he said that he went through and it has a shift kit and I think a different converter. But he jumped me off the line, but then i hammered down and as soon as my turbo spooled, i was ahead of him. I'm pretty sure he has around 500hp, but yet he does have lots of chrome accessories under the hood... I think I would be close to a 500hp truck. When i blew up my hy35, I raced a 3rd gen the night before and he said he was over 600hp at the wheels and he only beat me by about 2 car lengths, and both of us were impressed. Sometimes, my 1st gen surprises me.

Maybe I'm missing something, but a 350 with 600 to the wheels naturally aspirated? I think he's dreaming just a little bit.
In reality, he is probably putting down 350-400.

The 350 Chevy may well have 500hp, but at what RPM, and where is his torque curve, and how high is it? A 300hp 1stGen should be in the 7-800tq range- that can make up for a lot of HP deficit vs the gasser that may or may not have 500tq. I've read of a lot of high HP gasser that dont have more hp than ft-lbs.
If someone claimed to have 500hp on a NA gasser, I'd ask to see the dyno sheet.
