need mo powah!

I've got a 92 D250 that needs to dish out a little more power.
I've diddled with the diaphragm, start wheel, and bumped the pressure one turn. The muffler mysteriously transformed into a straight pipe. It's got a 16 cm housing and 27 psi.
These little things gave me a whoppin 187 hp and 547 tq. Pretty friggin lame in my book.
I've also noticed that it really lays down at higher rpm. Boost will drop to 10 psi before it shifts to OD.
What's the best route to get more power out of this thing without running the pressure to the moon?
I don't want to change the turbine housing. There's very little lag and I'm quite happy with it.

Lame? Remember that the stock hp was measured at the Flywheel, NOT the rear wheels, if you are putting down the amount you mentioned in RWHP then I would say that is a good improvement. With the mods you have mentioned in your post. I dynoed last year and put out 222hp 517tq to the rears. With the same mods that you have. I did however bump the timing up to 1.45*. The best route to go for more power is to get a set of the Delphi/Lucas POD injectors from Piers. adds 60rwhp and 100rwtq. I installed a set on mine about 2 weeks ago. Major inmprovement accross the board. You might want to consider putting an upgraded VB and TC in before this upgrade though.

I think those numbers are very good for a first gen. Like OkieBroncRider said you can some pod injectors. My brother has them in his 92 they make good power. One thing your exaust temps will go up.

Paul

Like Monty said, a set of POD's will help wake up your truck. Phone me at PDR and I will get you a price on a set. Also try turning out your high idle screw for a little more top end, along with bumping your timing up.

Well, if you keep your right foot out of the go peddle you will avg. about the same. If you have a heavy foot like I do, expect to see a 1-2 mpg drop.

I agree with Monty... if you go easy on the peddle, you'll likely see very little change in MPG. I have found that if I constantly crank it hard into the 3/4 throttle and up range then I see some loss of MPG. Even that can be moderated by tweaking the pump and you loose very little if any at all in terms of power.

Also I'll toss my hat in with nascar mark... give him or Piers a call. They will set you up with a balanced/tuned set including all the correct washers etc. for the entire install. You won't need to go hunting for all the extra bits and parts like has happened on E-bay for example (as I understand it happened).
Also there is a correct washer thickness for these injectors and it is not the normal 60 thou. ones Bosch uses in most of theirs.

Bob.
