Need fuel pressure gauge

I need a fuel pressure gauge. Long story short electric is not the way to go, or is there a good electric? I have a SW and it isn't worth a nickel. Anyway what is the hot setup here? I think I want to go with an Autometer to match the other gauges. I want the gauge in the cab. I have the geno's "banjo" with the taped hole for the fuel line.

What is the deal with the fuel isolator? What is the best way to do this? I figure a shutoff valve at the banjo, what kind of tubeing should I use?

Thanks for the help.

I guess I'm a little p/o ed. I must have gottem a bad sending unit. Anyway very long story short the fuel pressure started at 4.5psi and over a period of a few weeks went down to 1psi. After a lot of trouble, I took the sending unit out and put in a test meter and it shows 8psi. I guess the sending unit is bad. I was just thinkin now about getting another sending unit. Maybe that is the way to go without all the hastle of a mechanical. Now wondering where to get one. It may be more expensive than gettin another gauge with sending unit.

I think isolators are more trouble than they are worth, at least for diesel fuel. Make sure your fittings are tight, lines routed well, with stress relief on the ends/connections and use a shutoff valve. You can get these needle valves for like $8 at Ace hardware:

where do you have the sending unit mounted and do you have it grounded?

The sending unit is mounted in the tapped hole in the Geno's bolt after the fuel filter. There is only the one wire lead from the center of the sending unit to the gauge in the cab of the truck. It there supposed to be something else? I thought I hooked it up the way the instructions stated but maybe I missed something.

on my sending unit for my glowshift fuel guage it has 2 connections. One is for the guage and the other is a ground. You might be getting a bad ground causing a bad reading.

Isn't the pot grounded by the pipe connection to the block?

yes, but i would not be surprised if the mighty cummins rattle shook something loose in the sender. In the instructions it states to mount it remotely if it will be susceptible to a lot of vibration. I have mine mounted to the fender via a remote line. than ran a ground off the sender to the battery. Its been like this for 5 months and no problems yet.

Oh ok yeah I read that also but didn't think it would be that bad. I checked the psi with a mechanical gauge and found there to be 7.5 or 8psi fuel pressure. My gauge never read more than 5psi when new. I think it never was right from the get go.
I'm not sure if I should go with a mechanical gauge or just get another SW electric.
