Putting on some 285/75-16 goodyear duratracs tomorrow. Should be interesting how they compare with my toyo open country m/t's in the snow. These are a step up from my 265's.

The Toyo Open Country M/Ts we have on our 91 seem to give a good ride especially considering the aggressive tread. It seems they wear slower than other similar tires I have had in the past. How to you like them compared to the duratracs?

Traction seems just as good or better than the toyo's. Noise wise they are a tad quieter or just a different pitch maybe.
I hit a good pothole and see the tire touched my mudflap, wonder if i could have fit a 35 :P

You will like the 285 Duratrac's.
I'm sitting at just over 110,000 km's on mine, pretty much all highway driving. Once you get the pressures right so they wear flat, they are good to go.
In my case I run 55 psi front and 50 psi rear when empty, when I haul anything big and heavy, I bump the rear to 65 psi.
Oh yeah, I have rotated them once at 50,000 kms and the tread left is still about 3/8 of an inch front and 1/4 inch rear.
Awesome tire and they will be going on again.

Ya the people i talked to that run them alot (oilfield companies mostly) are averaging 90K. It will take me 15 years to put on that many km.

Haha yes i did, Evan has it at his shop and it may take a few weeks for you to get it though.
It will be a few months i think before i get it on. I want to weld on a jackall mount before i get it coated.
I am currently working on my snowmobiles, truck is on the backburner for a little while since it is still drivable unlike all my other projects.

Mine starts fine down to -40 but i do plug in the block heater around 10F or lower. When it is really cold i cycle the heaters twice and it starts much better, the 5w40 synthetic oil really helps in cold temps. You also need a good battery and good cables.
At +10f or lower i also have cardboard in front of the rad with one or two small holes cut out. Last year i had an insulating blanket made up that covers the bottom of the engine bay to keep heat in otherwise it takes 20-30mins on the highway for this motor to warm up when -15f or colder, i havent tried the blanket on this truck yet but it works on others.

So i finally pulled the truck back into the garage to fix a sticky E-brake, vibration in 4wd, and tach magnets.
I found the self adjuster tension cable? was broken and this must have caused the shoes to stick and overheat possibly, the brake material is broken at every rivet.
As for the vibration in 4wd, found the bolts loose for the front shaft to tcase yoke connection.
Figured since i had it in and waiting for brake parts i would test fit the tiregate. I still have some minor....massaging to make it fit. Some of the holes/distances must have been different on the mockup truck than mine.
I am hoping to get a jackall mount made up on the gate but not sure i have room, then it will go out for powdercoat.
