My junk now has a condensor and 2nd gen cooler behind the 86-90 grille.

Yesterday I replaced the reciever drier, expansion valve and chopped in a condensor in an attempt to get the A/C working. Just gotta vac it down and see if she's good.

Hopefully it works. I'm happy I got it all to fit (sort of) behind the old school 86-90 grille. It does take A LOT of cutting on the lower filler panel to make it fit. BTW the condensor is out of an 87 Dakota.

Why did you take that fine looking piece of bailing wire off? I was going to say it looks good, but it does fit the overall look of you beast.

Pullin' sleds while running the A/C.
I can see what life as an H.E.O. has done to you!

One nice thing, that Dakota Condensor probably has @ 30% more cooling surface than the OEM diesel one, which can't hurt you with R-134a.

I like that idea but might end up ditching the a/c cooler on mine to put in a intercooler.

Would a picture of that intake horn be possible I hear they don't fit on the non intercooled trucks do to the master cylinder being in the way.

Your info is faulty, though you do have to turn the intake 180 degrees, which is the orientation on a 2nd gen, anyway.
This is a pic of his engine with the intake horn and tube installed:

THAT depends on which side of the fence you are on.
In a way, the info is correct, I guess, because as "STOCK", with the OEM Non-Intercooled intake plate in it's original location, NO, it will not clear the master cylinder.

If you flip the stock non-intercooled intake plate 180 degrees, however, it moves the intake hole 4" forward, then the intake horn clears just fine.
The 180 degree turn for the non-intercooled intake plate is the "STOCK" location on the intercooled VE and the P-pumped trucks.

BUT, by that logic and from personal experience, even the Intercooled 1st gen intake horn will not work correctly on the non-intercooled one, without the intake being turned, either.

I guess it depends on your point of view as to how faulty the info is.

Okay I like that idea see when I had a thread on the cummins forum no one told me that part.

I hate to highjack your thread but I just have one more question how hard was it to put the second gen intercooler in there.

CumminsForum? Really?
I have seen a few people from there coming over here, and to 1stGen, to get their answers straight.

Just because you go to the "biggest" advertising sites, doesn't mean you get the highest quality, hands-on info.

Thiss, you'll actually be hard pressed to find any wire holding anything together on my truck.

Scot pa, Where abouts you at? I'd give you mine if you were close.

9MM, why ditch it when you can have both,

Mark, HEO???? And after eyballing both condensors they seem to be about the same size surface area wise. The Dakota is taller and narower whereas the N/IC one is Wide but shorter.

HEO=Heavy Equipment Operator.
I'd almost bet that more surface with less thickness is more efficient than less surface with more thickness.

DON'T SAY IT!!!

I'm in McCook. I need to get out by Norfolk sometime to pick up my grill guard, too. Just have no idea when I'll get there.

Looks like I drove right by you back about the middle of February.
