my Getrag lost 3rd and 4th gear
I could use some help here.... my 92 D350 has let me down and I need to get it fixed asap. (in the middle of moving)
While towing the last load (14K lbs or so) I went to shift from 5th to 4th while slowing and I had no 4th gear. Upon further rowing of the shifter it seems I have no 3rd gear either. 1st 2nd and 5th all work fine. I ended up towing that trailer 110 more miles through 4 small towns and such before I got the trailer close enough to the new place to come rescue it with my Dads motorhome.
So what do you folks think? Shift fork? Terminal failure? (it has made sum odd noises a time or two) I need to fix this soon I am running against a deadline and know almost no one out here in Nebraska.
Any ideas...... anyone in Nebraska with a transmission?...... open to ideas/suggestions ...thanks;-)

I think it's a problem with the shifter mechanism. If you don't want to drop the trans, pull up the carpet and cut a hatch so you can remove the top cover/shifter mechanism. It could be something as stupid as a roll pin fell out.

Thanks for the input... Sadly the load of shop equipment has not made it here to Nebraska yet...so I have some crude hand tools (should be enough) but as for cutting the hole.... all I have is the gas axe LOL
that said I was going to part it out anyway after the move is done so I can toss the Cummins in the 1985 crew cab so...maybe I will just gas axe a hole and drag the cover off... worth a shot.

who has about had his fill of dumb little headaches with this move.
