My '93 Charges now!
For whatever reason this thing is acting right now. It takes about 30/45 seconds for the volt meter to show anything when its cold and then jumps back and forth for a while until it warms up. I noticed this happens as the pre-heater solenoid goes on and off so I'm sure that's normal. Once warm it charges fine now. I bought this rig a year and five days ago and and have put only 6K miles on it and most of that on a trip to AZ right after I bought it so didn't pay to much attention to the pre-heater. Anyway the crank sensor did the trick (Thanks Wannadiesel!) Can't believe the Dodge dealer didn't find that. Just for good measure I also ran a 10 guage ground wire from the alt. body to the neg. side of the battery. (thanks Flashgordon!) Now that that problem is out of the way I'll put it and the 5th wheel away for the winter and contemplate some performance mods....

Glad to hear you got it working.
Most Dodge dealers are clueless about diesels, and even more clueless about 1st gens. Not many techs stay at one dealer for more than 5 years, so chances are that even if they used to have a guy who knew his stuff, he left years ago.
