Question mufflers

Can any one help me with mufflers? I can't afford 4" so I'm looking for a free flow muffler for my 3".

A chunk of 3in straight pipe would be cheapest , but look thru summit or jegs, they have tons of 3 inch stuff. Probably want to get a replacement tailpipe while yer at it and get rid of the factory crushed jobber too.

I ran a 3" glasspack from Summit. It was cheap and I really liked the sound...liked it so much that I'm thinking of a 4" glasspack for the new system.

I bought a 4 inch glass pack from NAPA for less than $50. I quite sure they offer it in 3 inch. It is a short muffler so you might need to get a piece to make it up to your existing pipe.

Would it be to loud to run 5 inch stacks with a stright 3" pipe feeding them? Should there be a muffler in there?

I don't think so. The 5'' pipe really mellows out the raspy-ness of the 3''. When I went from 3.5'' side exit to 5'' stack, it actually got a little quieter , but talk about getting my big rig fix every time I drive

Go straight pipe!

It's cheap and well worth it... It only cost me $30 bucks for the piece of pipe.

As for drone or loudness... It is loud outside the cab. But I have no drone at all for the stock tail pipe. But inside the cab I hear my turbo more that the exhaust.

I bought a 3" straight throught dynomax race muffler for $38.
