motor trans swap...94 into my 93

Ok so my trans is shot and I have access to a wrecked 94 4wd automatic single cab dually with 51,000 miles that I can purchase VERY reasonably.

I wanted to do a p-pump and trans upgrade eventually so this seems to be a 2 birds 1 stone situation. Plus my current engine is at 275k so backing up to 51k would be nice.

How difficult will it be to swap the entire driveline into my 93?

will everything I will need be on the 94?

Also what about performance mods that will work from the 93 to the 94?

Run it, probably be able to swap it all but the front axle pretty easily... I would stick with the 205 case thats in your truck now though.. I think they switched t-cases in 94 to a chain drive case... But, the motor, trans and rear axle would be a nice addition if the price is right...

Are you planning on using the motor out of the 94 too.?? I would be doing the 2nd gen intercooler swap if it is good out of it too... Lots of good parts can be had from the 94..

Good luck and keep us posted!!

I think you would use the transfer case that is in your truck now, the reason being the driveshaft for the front-drive axle is on the left side of the 1994 and up trucks and on the 1993 and back are on the right side of the truck. It maybe that the transfer case could be unbolted and turned-over to the right side, I don't know. The frame needs to be bent-up at the point where the starter is, keeping it from banging the frame. May need to changed the location of the pivot point for the gear shift linkage going from the frame to transmission, some have got by not changing the pivot point.

Made a deal with the fella this morning and going to pick the truck up on Monday.

The only things gone from the wreck are the ic and radiator. All the piping is still in place but the ic is gone.

Try to use the PCM off the 2nd gen, that way you will get automatic operation of the lockup converter. Gonna take a little bit of wiring but it can be made to work.

Good wiring diagrams for both trucks are all you need. The factory service manuals have the best diagrams.

Is the frame messed up on the 94 ? If not, do a body swap.

The frame is messed up and it's a single cab and mines an extended cab.
