More advice needed on this weekends tranny removal
...in order to replace the flexplate to a 2nd genner. Till this weekend, I will be posting questions as they come to me, and I want to thank anyone who offers input.
This question is on the TC, and that is when sliding the tranny back from the engine, my plan was to somehow run a sheetmetal strap across the front of the TC, and either bolt or wire the strap to transmission mount holes on two directly opposite from each other, in hopes of not ruining the pump seal behind the TC, and keeping things intact. Has anyone tried this? If you recommend replacing the pump seal, I hope I could pick your brains further for the correct part number. Let me know.

The strap should work well to keep the tq in place while removing the assembly. I have always replaced the pump seal whenever I pulled any trans out just as a precaution, sorry I don't know the part#. I will be doing this soon also.

As you back the trans away from the engine, slip a small C-clamp in there clamping it to the bellhousing such that it locks the TC in place (so it won't move forward).
