Missing Sorta

Ok guys i really need help on this one.........

Aight i am on the local vol fire dept and we have a 1989 dodge 250 2 wheel drive that mostly stock, just straight pipe and smoke screw turned some, anyways we had a fire the other night and the truck sit and idle approx 1hr or somthing like that, when we left they got in the truck and went to reverse, (truck is auto) then to drive the truck fell flat on its face, as they was coming home the two way radio keep coming on and off as like there was a short. The truck olny does it in reverse, any ideals, it misses like the fuel just gets turned off then jumps right back to running perfect

Check for loose wires. Grounds, Alt wires and ground by the field terms. You could wiggle the wire harnesses to see which one it is. Also check the body grounds. Wiring is a major problem on emergengy vehicles.

You might also look at the fuel shut-off solenoid on the back of the injector pump. It has a pair of wires to it and should have a positive feed when the key is in the on position. I would jump it with a hot wire and see if that fixes your problem. Also with the gear shift there is the neutral safety switch on the transmission to consider. But I believe that the only thing it disables is the start function, turning the starter over. But if your pump shuts off the solenoid would be where you lost your power. Why it lost its power could be many other things. Hope this helps.

Check your neutral safety switch on the driver side of your tranny. It's not far from the linkage, and is not a good fastener.
