Missing plug on VE
I don't know exactly when I lost it but I found the plug marked in the pic was gone (Btw this pic was taken from the sticky so thank You for this pic to the OP on that thread) It is right under the little fitting that goes to the intake and above the return line, what is it for? Would this explain My recent lower egt's and boost numbers? I put a small bolt there but I want to get the right plug, where can I get it besides My local Bosch dealer?
Thank You.
Thank You.

That is a vent for the AFC...and will leak if you have a bad seal on the small fuel pin and your AFC fills up with diesel. You need to find someone parting out a VE pump...one from a diesel VW would be the same as well.

I searched on the VW website but I didn't find it, will look again, or I'll have to order one through the only fuel injection shop I know here in MD.
Thank You.
Guess its not this one
http://www.hansdieselparts.com/PumpPressureValve.htm right.

I found a part # on the sticky on the picture below for the vent and cap 1 463 386 301 and 1 460 558 303.
Does anybody know the effect of having this plugged instead of vented?
I just got off the phone ordered the vent and cap (around $50 for both), asked the tech what is involved on installing this vent and said I have to remove the entire top of the VE pump to install this vent bc there is a seal on the inside I have to press in. Is this on the sticky?
Thank You.

Well I found this pic (again it was in the sticky and Thanks to the OP on that thread) it looks like I just drive it in and out the vent cap on it but it should all be outside work no need to remove the top of the IP.
I gave them the part # from the sticky and even explained with detail where it is located and what it does, the guy said bc i don't have this the top of the IP fills with fuel. I hope this guys send Me the right part

The part you circled is the correct one. As long as you matched the location number in the parts list, you should have the right part number.
The only problem I can see with you keeping a bolt in there is that there's a potential for the AFC housing to fill up with fuel in the case of the AFC pin's o-ring failing. You won't know if it's leaking unless the fuel has enough pressure to make it's way past the rubber diaphragm the fuel pin is attached to rather than out the vent tube as it normally would. If that happens, I can see a loss of power being in your future. Similar to having a valet switch. I don't know if boost pressure could overcome or displace the fuel that's in there. Thus, keeping the fuel pin from moving down to allow fueling.

I think the guy on the phone is thinking you don't have anything there. Since you have a bolt threaded in now then it is already bushed and threaded. Once you get the new vent just spin it in a tighten it up. No need to pull the top off the AFC.

Thank You guys. I'm pretty sure I got the right part #, called them back and explained again what the part looks like and I think they got it right.
I'll take some pics when I get it done. I just want to know if something could go wrong while I run it like this (about 3 years) and maybe do some preventive work while am installing this part.
