Missing one ball...

I just unscrewed the solenoid from my KSB and found that the BALL IS MISSING. Ouch! I guess that would account for hard-cold-starting, huh? I'm taking it to the shop tomorrow (for general tuning) - hopefully they will have one.

It ought to start just fine without the KSB working. A bad KSB will just cause white smoke/rough idle once it's running.

It starts - but it barely idles until warm and blows white smoke. Can anybody tell me the size of the ball and what it's made out of?

I've never had the ksb apart or really even touched it, i don't think mine is working either. But anyways is there more then one ball in there or just the one? i have no clue what the size is or would be. If it were me id get a nice collection of them and just test fit them.

Mine did this once, would sometimes stall if I didn't keep my foot on the throttle. Idle was a hair too low, but temps were 0 to 5F at the time. Bumped the idle up to 750 in gear with the AC on and no problems.

Here is my under standing. KSB stands for some weird german word, but what it dose is when the intake air temp is below a certin point the KSB kicks on and advances you injection timeing I believe 5` . It is locted on the side of your injection pump just below the trottle linkage. It is controled via a temp senser in the intake .

When I saw the title of this thread (and the poster ouchman) I thought someone had an unfortunate accident. Good to see only talking about IPs

My truck misses and blows alot of white smoke when it is cold out, but it still starts just fine, so would that mean my KSB is bad?
