Main seal replaced
I got the rear main replaced, the original one was in three pieces! No more Exxon Valdes oil spill, and fear of the hasmat team following me around!

I'm not sure how much it cost, I traded out work. I replaced my front seal myself, but it's dripping a bit. I think I needed to put one of those sleves on the crank snout. I was trying to get by without doing it because they are a pain.
On your other leaks, get a FSM if you don't have one and start doing one at a time. Before you know it, you will be done!

I wish I could! I just moved to NH from San Diego and moved into an apartment complex where "working on your car is strictly prohibited" Not that i have all of the right tools or know how, not yet any way. I am a newbie in a foreign land...

Welcome to the East Coast! how bout this cold rainy weather!
Powersteering is most likely from the seal going into the steering gear box from your input shaft of the steering wheel. THat's where both are mine are leaking from anyway. COmes from that little joint being worn out and messing them up. I think there are other common ones too, but I havn't done them yet.
Transfer case seal should be easy. Check your front diff vent hose first. There is a link in the sticky. If it's clogged up, it will force the oil out a good seal since pressure builds up as temperature builds up.
Good luck, maybe you can find a place near by willing to let you slide some cardboard under the old girl and get some stuff done to 'er.

thanks for the warm welcome dzl d! not that we needed any more warm a couple weeks ago. It was hotter here than it had been in so cal for a long time. I like it here though. Im not much for the general human population, and there is plenty of that in san diego. id rather hug a tree than a human and there arnt many trees left there, just tall ugly buildings. so any way im hoping to meet a another diesel fan here that likes to trade beer for a place to work on my truck and maybe give me some advice, as i am still an under qualified newbie.
P.S. hurricane bill, and east coast crowds (or lack thereof) provided way more fun surf than so cal has in months.
