Maiden voyage Wish me luck

Well the first gen is all loaded and ready to go on its 300 round trip to the drag strip in the morning. I will be pulling a 22ft enclosed with my 70 bee bracket car. (about 6500lbs) This will be the first time towing with it since I bought it and I am looking forward to seeing how it handles the load. I'll post my opinions when I get back. Wish me luck. LATER

No worries

I'm sure you will be impressed.................. I had the same worries about my first gen on my trip to Vegas. I had an '04 before and was a little concerned about the 1st gen on it's maiden voyage.............I could not have been happier............

Good luck at the track and let us know what you think of the truck.

Yea, I'd like to hear the report on how it pulls. Is your trailer a tag? Mine will see some similar trailer-weight duty, so I'm real interested in your take on the matter.

Smile first trip

after a long look for a old diesel i found a 350 single wheel 1989 for$ 1500 farm truck=dents no options except for air in texas wanted a 350 single wheel no yearly inspections larger rear end brakes ect 727 trans was a little weak took it out and rebuilt it for less than $100 changed oils to synt.redid the air i got a rust free truck(no roof blowing off by semis) went to AZ with a stop in LV first pulling an older 38 ft 5th wheel loaded with anything a woman can find.Only place i lacked power was in Dever lLOTS of hills. Got a inj pump. lift pump, vac pump ,alt, injectors ,stater at pick a part place in Az for $225 only trouble on trip was a upper ball joint comming lose in a/frame was ripped of in olk.for $265 to screw it back in and mig it in place other thanthat no trouble.Just bought a 1996 dually Minn rust bucket for $4000 but dont think ill keep it.

Hello again, I made it back in one piece (truck and race car) and I have to say I have mixed emotions on the truck. It towed great but I was expecting a little more power wise. I almost had it floored in order to run 65 and had to floor it to go 70-75. This is a stock truck and will see mods soon. When I checked the throttle linkage the other day it didnt look like it opened all the way when the pedal was floored. (almost but not all the way) So I will start there. I really want to add the 3200 spring but I dont trust myself to tear the pump apart. I guess I will start with exhaust and turn the fuel up a tad. As far as racing goes, I am stuck in the red light blues. But I did get my best 60ft with a 1.49 with a 10.70 et. Thanks and Later

Sorry to here about the red, been there dun that.better luck next time!

as fare as you power, i had a 90 360(gas) before i bought the my 91 360 diesel gears(4.10), 5sp exc was all the same!
as fare as pulling the heals, thay pulled the same(in mile per hour)the diff is that the gas go 9 miles per gal. and the diesel got 16!
with a fuw mod i think i can get even better milage and performace......Never be able to make that statement(milage and performace)With a gas truck!!!!!
Glad to se that the ol dodge was tru to is reputation and didn't let you down!

440, I can relate with the red light problems. (also being late, taking too much stripe, giving it away...)
how was the truck as far as stability, handling, etc? My last was a dually (gas).
I always had the impression that that old 360 didn't appreciate the load, but it drove good. However, there was rarely a gas station that I didn't need to visit along the way. Just wondering how a SRW 250 deals with the weight when compared to a DRW 350. (My load is probably a little lighter, similar trailer, but only 2400 lb. car)

Hello Ron E, The truck handled great. Almost couldnt even tell there was a trailer behind me. (except power wise) I do have the extended cab for a little longer wheel base so I suppose that helped a little. I figure I was getting somewhere between 14 and 15 mpg which I was thrilled with. I think I will be very happy with a few minor mods. Now I dont know what to buy next, exhaust for the truck or a practice tree for the driver Its a long tow for one round of racing Later
