You have one, it should light momentarily when you fire it up.

The bulb could be burned out. That would be the easiest.

Are you really for sure on "E"?

It is on the message center where it says CUMMINS, mine does not self test when the truck is first started but I know it works because it comes on at least once a week.

Mine doesn't come on at startup either, but it starts showing itself around a 1/4 tank, depending on how fast I take off from dead stop. Stays on constant around 1/8.

Sounds like you have the Jack Rabbit Start detector option on yours.

No self-testing in my '90 when the ignition is first turned on. I noticed last year after I swapped the original tank (non i/c sending unit/assembly) for a '91.5 (i/c sending unit/assembly), I haven't seen the low fuel light come on like it used to when the gauge gets to somewhere around 1/8 of a tank. Maybe the bulb is burnt out? Wiring between the 2 trucks is identical and was connected correctly according to wiring schematics.

Not much of a concern as I tend to fill up when the gauge reaches a 1/4 of a tank anyhow.

The Low Fuel light should also be known as a " hey take it easy light", because under a load there will not be enough circulating fuel left in the tank to adequately cool the injection pump combined with the dry fuel it would be easier to destroy your pump.

Mine no workie either. I've checked the bulb and it looks good. Gauge works fine too. Any idea what else to check? Haven't seen a fuse for it.

Funny thing...i posted that last night. This morning i left the house, headed to fill the ol goat up because i let it get way low on fuel. While driving the needle made it to E, something I've never done in the 5 years I've owned the truck. Boom, low fuel light. Kinda pointless coming on so low but still cool to have.
