Lost power

I just joined your great site. I have a 92 dodge diesel, its a dually, gear vendor, manual 4x4. i recently lost 5 mpg and power. Ive checked airflow , had the timing done , still no better. Thought Id ask here on this forum before I take it into cummins at $84.00 per hour.

And responses would bevery welcome.

TY , Conner

When was the last time you filled up? if was recent and after a day or two you noticed the loss of power you may be the proud owner of the winter blend feul you might try running a bottle of either power service or what ever brand you like or have heard of though your tank that will help keep things lubed and running smooth and it will kick the i belive its certane or the octane rating back to a better number for a cleaner burn. plus you will also have the anti gel if you get the dual purpose one.

Thanks cowboy but its been like for this for 3 months. Ive got an exhaust brake on it, Im gonna take it apart and see if theres an obstruction. Also I pulled the injectors and they were all uniform in how the engine sounded

Im thinking vacuum leak and let the cumins boys take care of it.

No bull, but this 92 with the gearvender got 23 mpg empty. It has 180k miles.

Id like to keep taking good care of it because they are so expensive to replace

After house payments and all the other bs expenses not many $ left for this $ 48k a year construction worker.

no kidding i know that feel darn money any way. another thing you could look at is your fuel pressure like maybe lift pump or the injection pump not sure wich one is contributed to the loss of power leanin towards injection pump

When was the last time you changed your fuel filter? I had the same problems a few months ago, changed the filer and presto, back to normal.

Good luck,
Michael

Sounds like fuel filter to me. Can't hurt to change it, might save you a bunch of $$.
