lost 1-2 shift HELP
Stomped on it to get out of the way of a buick and the truck reved and reved then shifted. While driving after that it would rev high then shift from first to third. What broke? Would a tranny flush help, doubtful. Need some help please. Oh it is a 727 auto tranny in my '89 w250. Thanks

All linkages are hooked up that i can see, Now the truck wont go in park. Shifts from first then third after the motor screams. If I try to manualy shift it fromt first to second it wont do anything then when I shift to 3rd it will go in third after reving high.

Well, the only other mechanical thing would be the gear selector gizmo that attaches to the inside frame rail and had that adjuster do hicky on it... If that all looks good and nothing looks out of line.. Then I would guess something inside went..

Can't really help you on the park issue, but no 2nd gear with a 1st to 3rd shift is a sign that there is some issue with the front band. Either is out of adjustment, worn out, broken, the strut bent and fell out, etc... You're going to have to drop the trans pan to see whats going on it there.

Possibly a broken front band or the front band servo is bad. You could check it by trying to adjust your front band. The adjustment nut on on the outside of the transmission, driver's side at the front of the transmission. There's adjustment procedures in the sticky area. If the adjuster refuses to tighten up, then the band is broken.
If the TV cable comes off you can only run in 1st and 2nd with the gear selector. 3rd will just slip.

took the pan off last night and found a metal strip with 2 holes in and a large piece that looks like a lifter or a whistle. No wonder it wont shift?!

Yeah, you do have to pull the tranny to get to the pivot pin for the front lever. You can see it here: http://joelsgarage.blogspot.com/2008...sion-main.html
I don't have the info up yet on fitting the front band in. That's the strip that was laying in your pan.

Yep that is the lever that broke, not the pin. The lever brock around the hole broke off then the thin piece with 2 holes in it just droped from somewhere.
