longer smoke screw

has anyone replaced their factory smoke screw with one that is longer? would it help by doing this? can it cause any damage to the pump? one other thing instead of shaving the nylon washer down how about just removing it, and what effects would that have
thanks for any info

Won't hurt anything except your fuel bill. Won't do anything except give you more smoke off idle.

On most pumps if you remove the washer altogether, the AFC cone goes too far and starts to push the pin back in and takes away fuel.
