A little disappointed

Here's a question - can you do the stg III compressor upgrade on a non-intercooled 91? I may have hit paydirt on a 91 seeing as how the 92 I was originally looking at has vanished along with it's owner.

OK, I'm a little less disappointed now. I just test drove a non I/C 91 W250 reg. cab with the 5spd. Definitely a lot peppier than the 93 auto I drove last weekend. Definitely could make use of a 3200 spring though - you run out of RPMs very quickly with the stick. Then again, maybe it has something to do with the 3' long shift lever. Anyone know of a way to make a short throw shifter if I decide to buy a stick truck?

Just BOMB it hard enough so you can reel 'em in with 4th gear. You're almost guaranteed never to get someone from a light with a getrag, except maybe an old VW bug running on 3 cylinders...the trick is to get alongside someone at about 38mph in 4th. If they can run with a bombed CTD from a rolling start, then they definitely brought something to the table

If one was going to try and race from a stop with a Getrag, would you have enough torque to start from 3rd or would you just slip the clutch? Just curious how some of you can race a diesel with a stick.

The stock 1st gen clutch, while tougher than a stock second gen clutch, and pretty tough overall, will not tolerate slipping. Gotta spend some big bucks to start in third....and then you'll likely snap the input shaft You can't really be in a hurry when rowing the 'rag

you might get a way with it a fue time, if you have 4:10 but i bet you would get some hot spots, an shaky clutch real fast!!!!
