I'm running around 40-45 psi. That's probably on the fringe of what the unit was designed for, but non-IC trucks see more boost due to heat. It seems to me that 30-35psi is the natural sweet spot for most intercooled hybrids. I've been having some flutter issues but have just cranked the boost up a bit more and let it fly for now--time will tell if it's gonna fly apart--I'm just too busy lately to search for a solution

I don't know for sure, but I can guarantee you won't hit it without a big head VE. Most of the guys running '35's or hybrids on top (on 2nd gens) are in the mid to low 500's.

It'll spool a little quicker, and EGT will drop a good bit. You should be able to work it as hard as you want with no EGT problems. The cooling system will be your new limiting factor - at least until you add more fuel.

When you say EGT's should drop significantly, is that mostly from the 4" exhaust or the 14cm housing (or a combo of both)?

Here's a question - can you do the stg III compressor upgrade on a non-intercooled 91? I may have hit paydirt on a 91 seeing as how the 92 I was originally looking at has vanished along with it's owner.

A combo, but leaning toward the 14 as the main contributor.

OK, I'm a little less disappointed now. I just test drove a non I/C 91 W250 reg. cab with the 5spd. Definitely a lot peppier than the 93 auto I drove last weekend. Definitely could make use of a 3200 spring though - you run out of RPMs very quickly with the stick. Then again, maybe it has something to do with the 3' long shift lever. Anyone know of a way to make a short throw shifter if I decide to buy a stick truck?

You've come to the right place. I've been referred to as somewhat of an expert in custom making short-shifters for people. The real secret is...

....use a hacksaw and hack it off!!

Just BOMB it hard enough so you can reel 'em in with 4th gear. You're almost guaranteed never to get someone from a light with a getrag, except maybe an old VW bug running on 3 cylinders...the trick is to get alongside someone at about 38mph in 4th. If they can run with a bombed CTD from a rolling start, then they definitely brought something to the table

Yeah, once the team of "A518 tranny gnomes" is able to get down there and notify the slippy TC that someone wants to race, it actually hauls butt!

If one was going to try and race from a stop with a Getrag, would you have enough torque to start from 3rd or would you just slip the clutch? Just curious how some of you can race a diesel with a stick.

The stock 1st gen clutch, while tougher than a stock second gen clutch, and pretty tough overall, will not tolerate slipping. Gotta spend some big bucks to start in third....and then you'll likely snap the input shaft You can't really be in a hurry when rowing the 'rag

you might get a way with it a fue time, if you have 4:10 but i bet you would get some hot spots, an shaky clutch real fast!!!!
