Hello everybody.
Back again for some help. I dont like posting just for questions, but im still learning. I have 1993 w250. Recently I found that (I think) the lift pump is leaking. After using simple green (LOVE this stuff) it was apparent that I have fuel coming from the pump (looks like gasket even though the pump itself is wet). It does not leak a lot, but enough to really bother me. Besides I dont feel safe when fuel leaks on the starter...Anyways I am on really tight budget right now with school, books, housing and recent medical bills. I also don't really have a place to do it, will have to use my friends garage. As much as I want to I can't afford air dog right now, or converting to piston pump. I found I can get a pump from advanced for 66 bucks from Airtex. Also I can get one at napa but slightly more expensive. I need the truck and its my daily driver. Do you guys know anything about this brand pumps, are they worth the money?I am not looking for ridiculous performance just want my truck to be reliable and not leak. Also, if I break the lines open, will it keep draining the tank of the IP? Is there a push rod like on chevy motors (new to diesel, but not to 350s). I searched for a procedure, and read the sticky on piston pump, but would like to know if there is a procedure on someone doing OEM pump swap. I just want to know if there is something I need to watch out for. Also, whats the best way to keep air from getting in while install? Thanks a lot, this is a great site!!!

youll be fine.It takes like 20 minutes in the driveway with no drop light!.You shouldnt drain enough fuel to hinder a startup,but you should use the priming lever anyway!!!

Thanks! If I take the fuel line off, will it keep draining? Should I have a hose and a clamp ready?

It won't drain much fuel out of the lines at all....... I did my first LP swap in the parking lot at work.......Piece of Cake.
