Leaking lift pump

I have diesel spraying out of the lift pump towards the front of the truck. It's coming from the body of the pump itself. There looks like a sort of pre made hole there where it's coming from. Has anyone had this happen? Is there some sort of vent hole there. I'd like to find out before I go by a new lift pump.

The truck still runs normally, no smoke or indications of air in the system.

That is the vent for the non-fuel side of the diaphragm.

I think the updated pump number is in our tech faq section.

Thanks Alec, I guess I have to buy one. It always happens when you're broke doesn't it?

Yes it does! BUT, keep in mind if you don't replace it, you are making your VE work harder than it should. Our VE pumps are lubricated anc cooled by fuel flow. A decrease cuts down on that lubrication and cooling. A life pump is cheap when compared to a VE pump, or even a rebuild.

They are only about $55 from Cummins if you have one close.

You can get one for less than $40 from U.S. Diesel Parts. That's where I got mine last year, it was around $35.
