Latest trip with 9.5 ft cabover camper 15.9mpg
Just got back from a month long vacation trip. Went from Ca to Nevada, Utah, Colorado, South Dakota, Wyoming, Idaho, Oregon and back home. Total miles 5156 MPG 15.9. Not too bad for hauling a 9.5 ft Lance camper. Got lots of work to do before trying another trip. Clutch is acting up and the trans or transfer case is getting really noisy. Makes a really bad tinny rattle when it is hot and under a load like all the gears are loose on the shaft and rattling around. It works ok just drives me crazy having to listen to it. I bought Diesel for $2.59 a gallon in one place then went to the mountains for a few days. When I came back it was $3.03. I had to back off the fuel a half turn once I got about 5000 feet up it was smoking way too much. Took a couple days to get everything dialed in and it ran great over the 12000 ft pass in rocky mountain nat park. Just had to brag about this great running Cummins.

Yeh, that trans noise is the same in my truck. I noticed mine goes away with the clutch disengaged. noisy in everything even nuetral. No hard shifting or hop out though. Is yours the same? I think that the input bearing is the culprit. But have heard of problems with the stock clutch too. I have to pull mine soon for the south bend OFE clutch install. Anybody had this problem out there chime in.

mine is rattling after a colorado trip as well! Bearings and synchros on the way from Standard Transmission since they are the only place that would tell me the brand of bearings in the kit (Timken).
How was colorado this time of year? Aspens turning yet?

great!
First off, nice rig DJ!
Love the color, and of course its a 93'! hehe!
Anyhow, that is good mileage. Mine is a 93' club cab D250 AT and I just finished the tank out with 489 miles (with a gallon or 2 in reserve) and managed a 21.2 mpg combined tankful w/o pulling or carrying. However, when I pulled my 30' 5th wheel last month, I managed a respectable 13.7 mpg @ 60 mph and my trailer weighs in at over 8500 lbs! Now, that I must say is great mileage. I got even better coming back!
