Larger Intercooler

I installed a larger intercooler in my 1993. The intercooler is out of my dad's 1999 Powerstroke. He was upgrading so i got old one. The I/C is 18in tall verses 12 3/4 stock. It's 2in thick verses 1 5/8 stock. Overall only 1in wider at the inlet/outlet. It fits with the A/C condensor behind the stock grill with no mod's to the grill. The only thing is I had to remove the little tranny cooler but I have the under bed one. Also had to remove the hood catch the one you move outside the truck to open the hood. Inlet and outlets are 3in verses 2.5 stock. I also upgraded my I/C tubes and put on a stage 3 compressor and housing. Photos in my gallery when approved.

Does the IC still fit between the condnsor and radiator? Did you have to remove the condensor?

Thanks, Aaron

The I/C still fits between condensor and radiator. I had to move the condensor out a little. I had to bend up some new brackets for the condensor. It all fits behind the grill with no mod's to grill.

Do you have any before/after EGT numbers? Sounds like a good swap.

Talking

Pictures are up. Had a chance to take truck for a drive today after a remounted the factory tranny cooler. I had to find a spot. Egts before the swap with the factory I/C sitting at an idle with A/C on 90deg. day used to be about 325 now it's just under 300 maybe 295. On a full out run I used to top out at 1100 at about 80mph now I could just get it past 900 at 80mph. I think it would really help if pulling a heavy load. It looks like I can put my new injectors in and see what it will do.

the intake horn is off a 2001 or 2. the I/C tube are from the same 01 or 02 . You could make the sock tubes work but it will take some adaptors. The tubes I used I had to make both sides shorter than they were stock. The new tubes are larger than the stock one and matched the new air horn.
