The line between the tank and the lift pump is under low enough pressure that you could get away with just clamping the rubber hose to the steel tubing without having to worry about a leak or sucking any air. Just be sure to get it snugged well.

Alright now I am more confused, perhaps it is because someone before me replaced the line from the lift pump to the tank. On my truck I have plastic tubing going all the way from the tank to the lift pump. Is this not how they were from the factory. I have no steel lines on the suction side of the lift pump.

I pressurized the system last night in there are no leaks from the top of the tank to the injection pump. i still would like to put in the clear hose just to see if the there is a leak in the draw straw in the tank.

Also, if it the plastic hose is not factory what size was the factory hose? The plastic hose on my truck looks to be either 3/16-1/4 OD. I did not have a caliper with me but it for sure is no larger than 1/4. Seems kinda small.

Is the return line and the supply hose suppose to be the same size? From a few other past turbo vehicles i have had the return hose is always smaller?

The 92 and 93 trucks had a black plastic fuel line from the factory I am pretty sure.
