Lack of power, low idle, and hazing... worn injection pump???
I have been dealing with a lack of low end power now for a few months. I was thinking it was due a boost leak in the intercooler that i know i have. But now that it is getting hot out i have been noticing that when i come to stop my idle is lower than normal. I have read that this is a classic sign of a worn out injection pump. Would a tired injection pump also cause a lack of low end power and a bad hazing when idling? I also noticed that some days the truck has more power than other days. Are there any test that can be done to see if it is the pump? Anything else i should look at? I was thinking of pulling the injectors to get the cleaned and the pop pressures reset.

I gutted it a few days ago and drove around for two days and I was still having the same issues. That was my first thought because about 6 months ago I pulled out the plunger and sanded it down and after putting it back it in it ran great for a day or two then it went back to having the lack of low end power. It has not felt like that since.

Has this been in hot weather? I have no input on that one but it dropped to 50 from the 90 it's been and my truck straightened up and ran normal all day today.

Check for an air leak on the suction side of the fuel system.
Small quantities of air will make the truck:
1. Smoke
2. Miss
3. Act like the timing is retarded
4. Idle lower
5. Cut out under load
6. Reduce fuel economy
With a lot of air in the fuel the truck won't even run.
If you do the clear plastic line test and there is no air in the fuel, then it's time to worry about the pump or shear keys, but do this first.

Where do you put the clear plastic hose? Between the lift pump and the injection pump?

How did you go about putting the clear plastic hose in? I just went out and took a look at it and i guess i am gong to have to find out what size the fitting are on each size. then try to adapt some type of barb fitting on it to hose clamp the clear hose to. Am thinking in the right direction here?
Pretty simple but i just wanted to make sure i am not missing some way of utilizing the stock line to make it simple.
