KYB Shocks=Much Better Ride!
I just put a set of KYB Gas Adjust Shocks on my truck and man what a difference. I dont hit my head on the roof anymore!

They had to be better than my old shocks. They looked like the OEM part since they had the Chrysler logo on em' ( I dont know anybody that would buy them from the dealer). If they were original they have 130,000 miles on the clock.

I was looking at other aftermarket shocks such as Rancho but I dont like the goofy rubber boot that wont stay on and gets torn on things. The KYB's have a steel cover like the OE shocks did and they were $10 cheaper. They also installed with no problems, all the bushings were the right size and slid right on the factory posts.

The part numbers are common with the ramcharger. (same goes for the Rancho) I got them from the TireRack for $33 ea.
Summit has them for $29 but the wait was longer. You might be able to order them from Autozone, Kragen, Napa...etc.

KYB p/n KG5422 (front)
KYB p/n KG5423 (rear)

Hope this helps someone.

Matt

I would also like to know. My truck needs shocks in a bad way right now, but it needs tires and rims and a steering shaft too, and I would like to not have to spend a fortune on fancy shocks if I could help it.

The last ones I put on were the HD ones from NAPA, and they did not last well, or ride particularly well, either...

33 is pretty cheap when it comes to our shocks. I paid 35 for procomp 3000's at a 4x4 shop because they where cheaper than ones from auto zone ore napa.

Monroe sensa-trac shocks make for a very nice ride. I couldn't believe the difference when I switched them out from some cheapos. Got them at napa of course. Only problem is that they don't make a sense-trac set for the front axle on the 2 wheel drives. Not sure about anything 4x4......

I've had good luck with Bilsteins. Not cheap (~$60), but you get what you pay for. I had a set of Monroe Gas-somethingorothers on the front of a 93 2wd, and they were no different from the worn out OEMs I took off. Same amount of rattle, bounce, and shake as before. Took them back and ordered the Bilsteins and they took care of 95% of that.

My monroe gas magnums are much better than the ones I took off. Plus Ive got 40k on them, and theyre just as good as when I got them. I paid $40 installed...(I figured why not, as I was having some $1200 of work done on suspension at the same time.)

I'm getting bilsteins for my 'new' 93 as soon as I can! I got a full set for my '96 2500 and absolutely loved them...I did a lot of towing, 'wheelin and highway with 'em. they seem to take a lot of abuse for a very long time, too.

I think that the ones I got from NAPA that didn't last were actually reboxed Monroes of some kind.

Napa shocks are Monroes last I checked.

KYB is now the house brand of shock at CarQuest stores if you have one of them in your area.

I have Rancho RS9000 9 way adjustible shocks (set full stiff) and they made a giant difference. There is a lifetime guarentee. I don't know how they stack up against Bilsteens though... they cost as much or more.

I've had very good luck out of the Rancho 9000 adjustable shocks. I've had them on the last 2 Dodges I have owned and with nearly 100k on this set they are still working great. However in the last year or so I have noticed that the price of the 9000s have went up. But sometimes you can get the buy 3 get 1 free deal. Bilsteins are a very nice shock too.
