The seal is at the pumpkin if I recall. That's what makes it so tricky re-installing the axles. Got to guide them in so you don't nick the seal.

I was going off road this weekend to a nice trout spot and it's about a five mile drive over some rocks and what not. I did some thinking about that seal as there was some minor rust/scale inside the axle tube. If there was a seal in there it would block out rocks and water from getting in there. I called Yukon, there is a seal you can buy which is part number YMSM1001. With that said I did some more thinking... if I put a seal in this the moisture changes in the metal temp are going to bring on condensation which will cause more rust. So, I'm thinking I might get them and just fill the axle with gear lube.

Or I might leave them out as I would need to hone it and it might be a size over. Now I need to go find some badges in the barn because some a$$hole stole mine.

I had to use a 12"cheater to break mine lose, and bent the pipe doing it. Other than that it's an easy job. It's the biggest allen wrench I have ever seen.

Well, both sides of my hubs on the front were hot... I could leave my hand on it for about ten seconds and it was too hot to touch. Something isn't right, did I roast the bearings?

Good chance you have the wheel bearings set too tight. I usually tighten them up then back off a quarter turn and then tighten to the closest pin hole on the lock ring, then install jam nut as tight as possible.
