From what I've read it's not a BIG concern on the first gens because of the timing belt and gears if I remember right. On 2nd gens the gears are more in the way and what not. But yes they're there without a shadow of a doubt. I'd like to do mine but considering it'd be my first time in... I'd probably need a good weekend to do so.

Your kidding right??
I bought this stupid thing thinking that they were bullet proof! NOw I am seeing that not only do they problems with the fuel ststem but with a dowel pin as well?? I have heard of this on the 1st gen as a local shop here offers a solution and advertizes in the papers in this area; but your saying it is even a bigger issue with the 2nd gen?? DANG< DANG< DANG!!!! What exactly is this and when is it prone to fail?? What happens if it fails?? "Killer" doesnt sound like it is a good thing!!! How do I fix this before it happens and what should I expect to pay?? Guess I should have done a little better research!!

Read that thread and the two threads it links you to. I think the NWBombers have a travelling jig, fixing it that way is no big deal.

IIRC 24v's also have the problem up to 2001 (i think) model year. I think Dodge started phasing out the old style timing gearcase in 99, but there were a few newer ones with it too.

Wanna jigged my KDP before the truck was mine, I had an opportunity to "examine" his work when I replaced the front crank seal ...NOT...just kidding . Wanna did a superb job of fixing the pin, I had even removed the set screw just to be sure the pin was good and it was bottomed out in the bore but I gave it a good staking for good measure. If it were me I would`nt lose any sleep over it, just put it on the list of things to do if you ever have the front cover off.
