Not real hard, but time consuming, especially if its your first time.

If you use the search feature, and type in "KDP", you'll have reading for days about it.

You don't need the kit.

Generally all you need is the crank seal. Replacing the gasket is usually more trouble than it's worth. If it's stuck to the cover and in one piece, just clean it up and RTV the case side.

I see in the sticky link to "tarmacsucks" or whatever that there's a thick washer that extends from that nearby capscrew to over the pushed-in KDP. Is that a necessary item or will the KDP stay put when driven in? Reason I ask is Dodge here is about useless except for the crank seal, and I don't wanna leave it apart while I run for a longer capscrew and fab out a retainer. I sure will if necessary tho as I had a camshaft get outa time and the engine hammer itself. Real horror story!

Most just drive them in and peen or smack the housing around the edge of it with a punch.

The washer tab does not work on a 1st gen, the case is shaped different than a 2nd gen.

After I make sure the pin is seated with a pin punch, I take a ***** punch and upset the case metal in the bore in several spots. There's no force behind the KDP forcing it out, so that will keep it in place.

My KDP had not moved but one of the bolts was finger tight. I think the bolts were more of an issue on the first gens than the pin itself. That's why I call them killer bolts.
