My guess on the add on electric fuel pump.....

Someone added it to over come things like.
Weak Lift pump
Air leak in the fuel system that allows fuel to drain back to the tank. Meaning they where using this pump at the tank to get fuel to the motor as a sort of "fix".

I would recommend you run new fuel line from the tank to the LP on the motor and remove said electric pump as they are junk.

Hey Ollie. I was planning on removing it. I have a piston lift pump I can use if this one is weak. The wires to the electric pump were not hooked up. Which means the lift pump is having to pull fuel through it. I don’t know how much energy it takes to draw fuel but it can’t be good for it

If using a piston LP just make sure it is a low pressure one designed for a 1st gen, or you will push out your front injection pump seal.

Yeah ditch that electric pump. They are nice to have in the tool box for a road side fix in a pinch if needed, but that is about it.

Watch your pressure on the piston lift pump. Some of them will put out way more than the VE injection pump can handle. Anything over 15 psi can blow the front seal out of the VE and fill the crankcase with fuel. Don't ask me how I know.

Both of us are members of the " why is my truck MAKING more oil?" club
I caught mine by watching the oil PSI dropping slowly on a road trip. By the time I pulled over for the last time to check it....I had over 4 gallons of fuel thinned oil in a engine that should have just under 3 in it.

That is one way to clean out the inside of your motor, I guess.

Progress. Some one pulled a wire from the back of the fuse box for the brakes. Even got backup lights

Mine had 3 gallons of oil mixed with 5 gallons of fuel in the crankcase. I'm lucky I didn't spin a bearing or worse. Luckily a poor motorcycle rider alerted me through his oil covered visor.

BAM. Brake turn and back up lights. All it needs now is a flatbed

Picked up bed yesterday

Got the truck under it

Test fit last night

This morning I started on it

Tig weld nuts to plate

Insert in to 2x2 tubing and weld

Used the existing frame mounts

Final product

still have to pull bed tomar. Going to fix a couple problems that I didn’t while the bed was off. Seriously think I may drop the tank and flush it. I’m considering driving this truck to Wyoming from Tennessee next month

Flat beds are so handy, looking good.

Take Oliver's recent advice and if you do end up dropping the tank prepare and preserve that part of the frame it hides while it's exposed.

What's the color? I'm thinking I like it but not sure yet. Have to see it completed.
