Just bought a w350 12 valve, need a lot of knowledge.
I just bought myself a first gen w350 12 valve, and i obviously need to know everything. So as of right now the truck hasnt started, i havent cracked the hood yet; but from what im told is that the guy put in a new injector pump, shortly after the pump started leaking oil, and the dude parked it. Then as all stories go, his friend starts messing with the pump to turn it up and now the truck wont stay on. He also said he had the tranny replaced, and whomever put it in messed up a seal, mind you its an automatic. Other than that i dont know of any other problems, but i definitely need some great ideas on how to adress the truck; what things that are needed to be looked at, areas to be addressed to be sure its a sound engine. Please help, I'm looking to build this thing, 500+hp, and look pretty.

If 4x4 frame cracks at steering box. Steering shaft rag joint needs to be upgraded to newer style. Replace drive shaft center support if ext cab. Rear axle seals if leaking need sleves installed to stop leaks. Under front fenders cowling crack and cause water to enter cab floor under carpet. If 91 get a 92 or 93 radiator. Cross flows.

First things first is assessing the real issues, and getting the truck running and driving. Once you have accomplished that, and the truck is reliable, then work on upgrading the power.
Pictures of the offending areas, and some basic diagnostic procedures by yourself, will help us...help you!

Might want to read more on these engines. 500 hp is not practical for a VE pump.
These trucks are lighter than 94+, so you can do ~350 hp and have a nice truck. To get 500 hp, you will need not only a bigger turbo but convert to P7100 pump.
