Well I finally bought a 1st gen! I had been looking for about a year for this combo in decent shape so I couldn't pass it up. The truck is rust free out of TN. It's a '93 extended cab LE, 4x4, 5 speed, 3.55s, and 166k.



I've owned a couple 2nd gen 12 valves but I've got a few questions about the first gen:
First, do I need to worry about the KDP??
Also, I plan to do the usual mods, some tuning on the pump, denny t pin, 3200 spring, etc. Should I worry about the getrag holding up to the extra hp?
And lastly, I'd like a set of Eagle 058 or similar styles wheels for it, where are you guys getting them?

Kdp should be done. Check they sticky at the top of the page there is a lot of great info in there. Congrats that is a good looking truck.

Yup do the KDP...peace of mind is worth the few extra bucks. As for the getrag...give it a service, drain the fluid then fill it up...then add one extra quart and you should be golden.

When you do the KDP check all the case bolts also and loctite em.

I usually dump an even 5qts of Mobil1 5w30 full synthetic in the old mans Rag.

I have a 92 with the 5 speed. Tweeked pump, 3200RPM spring, Dennt t stage 2 pin like you were talking about and aint had a bit of problems on the stock clutch with 170K miles. The only issue I've had is the Fuel Shut off siloiend (my spelling) just took a dump. I ran a pull cable to it. It's said that that will happen when you turn the fuel up with stock injectors. The KDP is a must tho. Mine would have been fine but I was in there so I tabbed it with some spring steel from a retaining clip for a U-joint and lock tight. You can advance the timing about 1/8th inch and that will wake up the top end a bit. Welcome to the club my friend. OH..... Guages!!! Befor you tune it get guages! Pyro, Boost, Oil Pressure and something else I know I'm forgetting. Guages have saved me a couple times so far with my projects.

Thanks everybody, and yes I forgot to mention gauges... I have autometer boost and pyro that will be going on there first thing, and I plan to get an isspro tach. I'm thinkin i'll put the tach on the column, and the boost and pyro will go on the A pillar, that being said, who makes the best A pillar mount?

Does anybody have a source for eagle 058, M/T classics, or any similar style wheels to fit the 1st gen? It's my understanding that our studs are smaller than the typical ones found on 8x6.5 wheels, or will they still work?

Any wheel site online. I personally like ebay because you can find the best deals. Our trucks use 1/2" lug thread....not 5/8 or 9/16 like some.

Order the wheels from the site that gives the best deal like free shipping etc.....

Good to see it went to a good owner. I'm selling my 1993 on Ebay right now as well.. It has been a busy last couple of days to say the least.

Do you have any pics of how they mounted the Ford seats?

I dont have pics of that right now, but from what I can tell the front left and right rear holes in the seat frame lined up with holes in the floor. So they only have those two bolts in them. They seem solid... hopefully they would stay put in the event of a collision, but I may figure out a way to fasten them down further just for good measure.

Here's pic of the ford leather seats and console PapeCAT speaks of, if anyone was interested. The drivers seat is power operated. I've thought about getting some gray covers for the seats to make everything match a little better.
