[QUOTE=wannadiesel;2593717]It's just a little tiny muffler so I'm still cool even though I'm old, right? I got a neat "Cherry Bomb" sticker with it too - that's gotta be worth some coolness.
Man, a fellow like you will be cool when he is 90. I used to have a little Nissan that was so loud inside (just from road noise and not enough sound deaden-er) that I would sometimes wear ear plugs when driving it.

Richie O the ole 6-71s and 8-71s are why I have to say huh whatcha say alot now. The straight pipes on those will drown out our lil trucks fairly easy. Huh whatcha say again. I think I have a straight pipe on my Dodge just so I can hear it because I think i'm partial deaf.

For sure, those ole girls are loud. My next door neighbor had 4 71's and 6 71's in a few boats. Both him and his dad are hard of hearing. There is still 1 lobster boat the next town over and I can hear him usually before I see him.
Up till 10 years ago we had tons of boats around with 4 53's 3 53's 6v92's 4 71's 6 71's There are just a few left. I took a private ferry to an island with dump trucks and excavators for a house site we did and it had 2 12v71's. I went down in the engine room under full power and you could not even yell back and fourth. The noise was louder than a person could scream over.

Don't worry about it Dave.
There's no reason to be loud if you can make the same power and be quieter..
Now if you're loosing power by adding the muffler then that's a different story.

agreed. i love the sound of the motor, and i love the roar of the straightpipe
but you get to hear the motor during the winter when your windows are up, or in the summer roll up your windows and put the ac on! personally i like to hang my arm out the window

Those dont fit with a transfer case and stacks lol... I had a short magnaflow ss muffler in mine for a while. Took lots of noise out, but it was mostly whistle and rasp. Not the drone. Still sounded pretty much the same wide open.
If there was a way to take the drone out of stacks, I would have them full time.
I used to have 2, and just scored a bit of 5".... Was thinking about making a 5" single, but if its gonna be anywhere as noisy as 2, then ill just leave it out the side. Anybody have first hand experience with noise levels between singles and duals?

Don't worry Dave. I'm 24 and I think mine is a little rude and annoying at highway. I LOVE it when I want it to bark, but I'm a little ashamed when it's rudely shaking windows when I don't want to at 6am. I'm thinking about a rig muffler with exhaust sheild and flapper
However, these ol mills aren't nothing compared to an opposed piston Fairbanks Morse! Talk about loud! Better wear ear plugs inside ear muffs!

Got a couple miles of 60 mph running today on the way to the gun club. I think you could have a conversation in normal tones in there at that speed, you can hardly hear the exhaust when cruising. I'll see what a few hundred more RPM and more wind drag do on Sunday.
So far I like it, it is still loud with the slider open and a heavy foot on the pedal.
