Internal regulated alternator

I want to replace my alternator with a high-outpt internally-regulated non-Dodge/diesel alternator. If I do so, is it just about disabling.disconnecting two wires ( one to the PCM and the other to the auto shutdown relay) - these are the field wires from the winding in the alt which would be connected to the internal regulator). So the two wires will just be hanging free.

Anybody who's done it? Just wondering if the PCM will complain about the two disconnected wires.

Edit: the wire from the autonshutoffrelay is the ignition on wire and will have to be connected to the new alternator.
