Interior door panel mounting

My door panels don't like to stay put.
Why?
The sheet metal in the door is ovalled out where the A shaped clip feeds into.

Everytime I get in the truck and shut the door the panel pulls out.
Even if I roll the window down and grab the metal, the panel still unclips when it shuts.

anyone got a bright idea how to remedy this?

Do you have a mig welder? Maybe you could tack on some washers, just throwing out an idea...Mark

This is what I was thinking. Sadly I have no welding skills.
What I need is a body shop guy to do some micro welding I guess.

You could fasten a fender washer inside behind the hole with a bolt, a smaller washer, and a nut. Then drill 2 or 3 small holes just outside the small washer, through the door and the fender washer. Use those holes to hold the fender washer in place with small (like 6-32) self tapping screws like are used to hold metal dry-wall studs together. Remove the original bolt and nut and there's your round hole.

Only thing better would be duct tape.

Check out Mr. G's for all kinds of fasteners. They may have longer, and wider door clips that would help you out?

Try some new clips, the old ones could be bent or lost their tension, there are also several different size and shapes of clips,

I bought a hand full of them because every time I pull a panel it seems like one of the clips needs to be replaced, the holes are of a varying sizes yet my panels are on tight even with the additional 8-pound rebound carpet padding behind them.

I get my clips from King Bolt, my local Specialty Fastener Supplier.

All my clips are new. I bought a package from Napa, but they are definitely the same size. Looking for a larger or longer clip of the few problem spots would be a more economical solution that welding.
