intercoolers in
well today I got the cooler in, and out for a test run i went....
with out intercooler my boost #s are 48-49 psi...
with the bank intercooler in boost # are 38 psi... I think thats a good number.I checked the cooler after a good pull and its working real good the turbo side was to hot to keep my hand on and the other side was cold to the touch. so I will have to say im happy with the cooler mod. except for the grill. I bought a 91.5-93 grill kit but it will not work with a intercooler on the 88-90 trucks, with out a core support change, if i didnt have the cooler I could make it work by doing the head light mod. but no way with the cooler. so now I need some input, do i buy the banks grill, make a nice billit grill or is there one out there that will fit?

Fearthedeere,I payed $1003.00 for it from a local diesel shop it was cheeper from him then direct from banks...GO figure

With a baseline of 0 to 75mph (WOT) and 35lbs of boost, the EGT's were approx 1300*F max. (This was using the stock aftercooler).
Thus far it appears I can do the same run with 35lbs boost and EGT's of approx 1100*F.
Neat!

Dang! Maybe I should try a better intercooler before I give up on the hybrid turbo. I wouldn't have expected a 200 degree drop on a factory intercooled truck.

A more accurate figure (now that I've drove around a little more today) is a solid 100*F EGT drop over my stock intercooler.
Still neat.

it surprised me just how hot the air coming out of the turbo really is I cant touch the intercooler on the turbo side yet the other side is cool to the touch . I do like the fact that im making the same power at a lower boost and not having to worry about granading the turbo
it was a good mod and now the power is useable for towing

I see you went with a banks intercooler. Would a intercooler out of a 2nd gen truck be better then a stock 1st gen one? I have access to second gen intercoolers , so i wonder if i should save some good coin and go with the second gen intercooler?
Right now i can hit 1200 F quick with no intercooler and the stock baby H1C, so i have to do something quick!

I think I've posted this before but here it is anyway....
This is from Isspro information regarding the use/need for pyro's.....
For every one (1*F) degree rise in ambient temp, the EGT will rise three (3*F) degree's.
So, if you can smack down your inlet temps you will see ( to some degree) an incremental decrease in EGT's.
Now, add in a good/wide map on a turbo and you have the workings of a decent, efficient system.
Just keep the turbo in it's map is all.
The more common hybrid '35's have a map width enhancement which allows us to run up into the mid 30's for boost,... roughly 36-38psi..... that is a fair bit better than, say, the more nominal 28psi for a stock '35 and even better than the 24-26psi of a stock H1 series turbo.

grill options
I've seen the billet grills for first gens at www.acmetruckparts.com
they have the square or round bar style.
not too much $$ either.
Not sure if the banks ones are different, maybe you would need to slightly mod the acme ones. BTW they have a lot of other body parts & accys as well for first gens
