If you try to put the PS pump on the vacuum pump with the vacuum pump mounted to the engine, you will drive yourself nuts trying to get the drive aligned

Well, bought me an old beater '92 D250 and thought I'd have things fixed replacing the vacuum pump behind the master cylinder. I had to use both feet to stand on the pedal to stop and at times I had no power steering. Well, that fixed half. Now, after being used to stabbing the brakes, I get choked by the shoulder belt and **** off everyone behind me, but I still have a nasty leak and almost no power steering.
I went ahead and bought both power steering pump and the vacuum pump it attaches to from Rock Auto for around $300. Any special tricks to installing this? My thought is to go ahead and install the new power steering pump to the new vacuum pump first and then just swap them out. Will this work, or am I going to run into trouble? I'm hoping for an easy hour job....I hoping the tooth fairy comes tonight too.
