installed 366 and now no shutdown

I installed the 366 spring in my pickup today. Took it out for a test drive and what a differance that made. The problem is when I got back I turned the key off and the pickup acted like it was going to shut down but then fired right back up. I had to manually shut it down. What did I screw up here?

Sounds like your fuel shutdown solenoid went bad. http://dieselvw.com/PumpSolenoid.htm

I'd say it just went bad out of dumb luck and has nothing to do with the 366 spring.

Turning over higher RPMs would lead to higher case pressures. Might have something to do with it. Just a thought. Probably not the case though. Mine hasn't failed. Shouldn't have said that. Let me knock on wood...

IMO they've got to be related. Is there A how to for replacing the shutdown solenoid? Looked but didn't come accross anything. I'll look it over more when I have time.

Do they always fail in the open or "run" position?

they are just a piece of rubber that gets ripped and cant stop fuel flow, so the engine keeps running. ive never heard of one failing to open but it is a solenoid so im sure its possible.
