When I switched from stock to 190's with nothing else changed, I saw an increase of about 1 mpg.

Im not really interested in more power, just better mileage. I can get 18 on the highway, about 14-15 towing 5500lbs. It seems that someone would produce something like this.

I have also heard that the 190's bump the mileage a bit, but I have only had pods, which definitely do not help mileage.

I see 1 to 1.5 mpg increase at 65mph on highway with the 190's. So I get 18.5, maybe 19 empty if I'm lucky. I supposedly see about a 10hp increase over stock non intercooled injectors. At 204k it was recommended I change the original ones, so I did.

Do the 190's support more power aswell as get better mileage (with proper driving procedures obviously)? I'm intersted in more power when needed by some pump mods soon, but if I can get better mileage to boot when driven conservatively, I'll be stoked.

Hey USMMA, I'm guessing you went to Kingspoint. You sailing?

dzl damon, im not sure what Kingsport is, so i guess the answer is no. I thought that my 18 year old truck has 18 year old technology so maybe someone smarter than me had found the right spray pattern, tip size, whatever to boost mileage considerably. I m just dreaming of a 7000lbs truck that gets 20 i guess.

A 7000# truck getting 20mpg isnt too much to ask for, IMO. I've done it before on different vehicles.

I'd check the injector condition. If they are popping low or not spraying well, it can rob you of 2-4mpg.

Vavle adjustment and pump timing can also greatly affect MPGs. Check the valves, and set them to a tight .010 and .020 (Cummins minimum is like .006 or .007"; exh is similar).

Good thread. I have been thinking about injectors also. Where is the best place to get them from? Does pump timing really affect mileage, that much?

I finally got the injectors installed, milage is at a whopping 14 a drop from 17 on average driving, well what do you call average when you can't keep your foot out of it. I just got some S wrenches so it's timming time. I do get alittle haze at idel so hopefully it clears up. Also its been awhile sence the valves have been done that is on the list also.

Does the timing bump affect anything else besides mileage?I was looking in the sticky last night, it looks super easy. My injectors went in a couple of years ago, i also have a head off of a 93, so I assume they are the 7mm. I love driving my truck, but with 3.45 gal fuel, i have to drive my girls jetta for errands and whatnot.

I have had 2 trucks with them. The first was non intercooled. Don't put them in a non-ic truck. You only gain about 20hp over the stockers, and the egts's get plenty warm in a hurry. I had like 1.5 turns on the screw, and could send the pyro north of 1500 unloaded in 4th gear. All stock this truck could pull 23mpg on the highway, 18 around town. I never checked it with the new injectors.

My crew cab had them, but with an intercooler. I would guess 16-18mpg, I dunno. The speedo was off so I couldn't check the mpg's. I had this one turned up a little more than my non-ic truck, and hit 1300 pulling a 24' enclosed trailer while accelerating, and 1100 running 65.

If I had to do it over again, in my non-ic truck I would have had the stockers rebuilt.
